Yesterday evening a unanimous decision was made by the local membership of UKIP to elect Mr John Rees-Evans as the parliamentary candidate for Cardiff South and Penarth at next year's General Election on 7th May 2015.

Although the seat has been a Labour stronghold since its creation in 1983, Cardiff South and Penarth - first held by Prime Minister James Callaghan - is now regarded by many as a likely target seat for UKIP.

transcript of Mr Rees-Evans' adoption speech is available on the attachments tab.

A most fervent and inspiring speech. Let's not give up hope but throw off our complacency and our decadent lifestyles and catch the enthusiasm! Let us all make a concerted effort to vote in the next General Election. Hopefully there are some others out there who will be encouraged to stand up and be counted. All is not yet lost, by God's grace.
