TORONTO - Canada's Entertainment One has launched an indie sales arm, Seville International, led by Anick Poirier. The announcement from eOne Films International will see Poirier promoted to vice president of international sales at the new Montreal-based division.Seville International will focus on independent films with crossover potential and arthouse films with award pedigree.
The move follows former Studiocanal exec Harold van Lier becoming president of eOne Films International, and veteran film acquisitions and sales executive Charlotte Mickie leaving the international film division at the end of 2013.
Van Lier, president, eOne Films International, is turning his own London-based division's focus to wide-appeal English-speaking commercial titles for direct distribution and international sales.
Reporting to van Lier, Poirier will work with Les Films Séville president Patrick Roy, eOne Films Canada’s Bryan Gliserman and Mark Slone, and eOne teams in Spain, the UK, Benelux and Australia/New Zealand to secure films from top homegrown filmmakers for local distribution and international sales.
"Our complementary strategies will see eOne Films International and Séville International together handle a wide variety of the most sought-after films from across the globe," van Lier said in a statement Wednesday.
