Just wanted to say I met the Georgia Tech police, the Atlanta police, and some Georgia State Patrol during our 'meet the police' function yesterday. Most of them are good guys and put their moral beliefs above their police duties. I asked them if they would shoot civilians if a starving mob, created by an economic collapse, was ransacking the Georgia Tech campus. He said, as a Christian, he would back off and go home and protect his family. An African American officer told me that he is in the same boat the public is in. He said all African American police officers would be disarmed if a police state was set up. One officer, out of 5, was being a bit snooty. Police, it is your job to protect us and the constitution, please discharge all the bad apples in your unit.

Valuable Insight into Local Police Force
Thanks for a first-hand original perspective. It's good to consider their humanity. The police are often very unfairly represented when in many cases they're in a tough place, having to follow orders they wouldn't necessarily endorse if they were able to see the big picture. They're only controllable because they're so tightly compartmentalised.
